The Libra Project
Libra is a major solution development for the Ministry of Justice. It is one of the flagship
e-government initiatives to improve the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales.
Main Aims:
The major aim of Libra is to replace outdated and unsupported IT systems with a single, modern, national standard infrastructure and Case Management system. The secondary aim is to provide a platform to build on for the future, enabling the modernisation of Criminal Justice IT.

Savings are forecast to be considerable over the life of the solution.
STL & Libra:
STL Technologies were awarded the design, development, migration and training elements of the contract in 2003 and have now rolled the solution out to eleven sites and twenty-three Courts. Full National deployment will be concluded by December 2008 when the solution will support 123 Sites and over 300 courts with 12,000 users.
STL Technologies continue to enhance the Libra solution as part of the ongoing development of the Criminal Justice System.

- An improvement in the timeliness and accuracy of information flows between the courts and other agencies
- The implementation of a standard case management solution across all magistrates’ courts in England and Wales
